How can classes help ?
Pilates is low impact, meaning it is suitable for most people. The exercises can be adapted to make them more or less challenging, depending what you need.
Most of us spend more time than ideal in the same position (e.g. sitting over screens) or doing repetitive tasks. In Pilates, we counteract this by moving the spine in every direction, and we mobilise all our joints, with a focus on working from the centre of our bodies. As a result we build even strength and flexibility that can have a really positive impact on aches and pains.
All of this translates to moving with more ease outside of classes, so you can do more of the things you want to do, building a strong base for other sports and activities.
Pilates also provides an opportunity to connect with how the body is feeling and we can notice and soften into areas of tension through our movements and breath. This is really powerful amongst the busyness of life where we often feel a disconnect from our bodies (and without realising have a tendency to hold our breath). You will leave the end of each session feeling more energised and with increased clarity, which overtime can help to reduce stress.
